It wasn't that she didn't mean it...it was just that it was so painfully cliche. Everyone already saw her as this angsty, troubled teen...they weren't wrong, but she hated proving them right.

 

And yet, Jean was so damn annoying, acting like she cared, when all she wanted was to control her. But Rogue didn't want to be controlled, especially by someone who claimed to be doing it in her best interest--she'd had enough of that already.

 

"You're not my mom!" she finally shouted, and stomped off before Jean could see how hard she was cringing at her own words.
